May 31 – June 1, 2024 | University of Maryland, College Park
Welcome to the 2024 International SeaPerch Challenge! This year, we’ll see 174 teams from 4 continents join us at the University of Maryland, College Park.
The SeaPerch Challenge is an underwater robotics competition designed to engage students in hands-on STEM education while fostering innovation and teamwork. Participants build remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and compete in various challenges that test the ROVs’ abilities to maneuver, complete tasks, and navigate underwater obstacles. The competition encourages hands-on learning, problem-solving, and collaboration among students ultimately promoting STEM education and career exploration in marine robotics, engineering, and the core trades.
For our 2024 theme, we’re diving into the perilous and enigmatic world of Deep Sea Exploration and hydrothermal vents! Exploration is key to increasing our understanding of the ocean, so we can more effectively manage, conserve, regulate, and use ocean resources that are vital to all of our lives. The International SeaPerch Challenge offers students a unique opportunity to delve into the world of maritime technology and witness firsthand how scientists employ it to tackle real-world challenges.
