The 2021 International SeaPerch Challenge

The 2021 season was unlike any we’ve had before. For the first time, there were opportunities for virtual participation and engagement with other teams. This season extended from the 2020 season, allowing teams to further develop their ideas focused on Waterway Cleanup.

STRUCTURE: To ensure safety and equity across the entire community, the 2021 International SeaPerch Challenge event was hosted on June 4-5, 100% virtually with no in-person event. International Challenge teams participated in 2 required events, 2 optional events to choose from and a special giving back activity. Want to compete but can’t get together with your team to build a SeaPerch? These events are designed to be flexible to support team participation regardless of the team’s ability to physically be together. Keep reading to find out the different events teams choose to compete in!

Are you ready for the first-ever virtual 2021 International SeaPerch Challenge event?!

The SeaPerch community virtually gathered on June 4-5 to celebrate the great community of students, educators, mentors, parents, and partners!

Reports may be focused on a SeaPerch ROV designed for the 2021 SeaPerch Mission pool course or for a real-world application. The application for your SeaPerch should be clearly described in the “Task Overview” section of your report. Teams that are unable to build their SeaPerch may describe the approach that they would have taken or plan to take in the future.
